Overview
The Urayasu Tekko Danchi was developed as the center of steel and distribution industry in 1970s’.
Before then, about a thousand of steel processors and distributors were operating throughout the Tokyo metropolitan area.
However, since the traffic got heavier in Tokyo and a demand for steel processing increased, many of them began to move their operations to a reclaimed area in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture.
Thereafter, the total number of companies which moved to, the area reached more than two hundred, and the Urayasu Tekko Danchi Cooperative Association was established in 1963.
For more than three decades, as the largest steel processing and distribution center in Japan, the Urayasu Tekko Danchi has been contributing to the progress of steel consuming industries in and around Tokyo area.
